**Jordy de Maar wins Big Brother: ‘I cried more than I ever cried in the first week’**
On Saturday afternoon, Jordi reflected on his final 24 hours in the Big Brother house – a time he called “the funniest” of his life. He said it was special: they listened to music for the first time in weeks, went to the pool, had food – things that were completely out of the ordinary for housemates.
“We listened to music for two hours – which seems so simple but it was so emotional because I hadn’t felt that way for so long,” Jordi said. He said he sang along, danced his heart out and completely let go of all his thoughts. But contrary to what one might expect from a raucous after-party, Jordi said he barely attended the afterparty. “I was in my hotel room. My social battery was completely drained.”
On the issue of drinking in the house, Jordi flatly denied that he had “pretended to be drunk.” He explained that he hardly drank before entering the house. “When you’re not used to alcohol, and you’re on an empty stomach, drinking four or five beers is too much,” he added. Jordi attributed his rapid drunkenness to the fact that he lost 5.5 kg while participating in the show.
He also mentioned the 5,500 euros he won in prize money. Although he joked that he wished it was a bit more rounded, he was satisfied with the figure. “I wanted to round up the amount in my account, because during the show we didn’t know exactly how much money we had,” he explained.
On in-game tactics, Jordi admitted that he actively sought out “bonus games” because it was the only way to continue competing when the nomination-related challenges were over. “I don’t play for money, I play because I love challenges. If I played for 1,000 euros or 10 euros, it would be the same for me,” he said.
Jordi also shared his “hidden pranks” such as stealing food, which he said added to the show’s colour. “If everyone was too good, it would be boring,” he admitted, but made it clear that during the food shortages, he was respectful of not taking anyone else’s food.
Asked why viewers loved him, Jordi said he believed it was because of his honesty. “I showed every emotion – I cried more in the first week than I had in 27 years,” he said. He admitted that he was a strategic thinker, and was sometimes misunderstood as not enjoying the experience. “But I enjoyed every minute of it in the house – in my own way.”
Despite his occasional clashes with fellow contestants like Axel, Jordi says he always stays honest. “I’m a straight talker, good or bad. If someone wants to hear me say something positive even if it’s not true, they should say it,” he shares with a laugh.
At the end of the interview, when asked if there was “something” going on between him and Joline, Jordi laughed and denied: “I didn’t come here to fall in love. Joline is a beautiful girl, smart and a great gamer, but I don’t let feelings get in the way of the game.”
