During her rookie season, Caitlin Clark has made herself known in numerous arenas across the WNBA, but Phoenix will be the site for a special milestone: her first All-Star Game.
Clark, along with fellow rookie Angel Reese, were among the 12 named to Team WNBA for the All-Star Game this Saturday at Footprint Center. Team WNBA will face the U.S. Women’s National Team in a tune-up for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics in a star-studded event.
Although the young superstar didn’t make the Olympic team, she was a shoo-in as an All-Star with 700,735 fan votes and an impressive rookie season.
Fans have seen a lot of Clark this season with an average of 35.0 minutes on the floor — the most among rookies and fourth-most in the league.
After a rocky start, Clark and the Indiana Fever have been trending in the right direction and have won four of their past five games against teams entering with a winning record, including Friday’s win vs. the Phoenix Mercury.
Clark is averaging more than 15 points, five rebounds and five assists per contest through her first 25 games of the season, something only Sabrina Ionescu (twice), Candace Parker, and Lindsay Whalen have done. She is averaging 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.
She came close to securing her first triple-double against the Mercury on June 30, but she did so on July 6 against the New York Liberty. Clark finished with 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds, and became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.
